Best leaders demonstrate five key attributes: They raise awareness, show directions, create results, demonstrate others how to reach a goal and achieve progress what benefits others, not themselves.

Leadership begins with leading ourselves: Leadership is first and foremost an “inside job”. We have to be able to lead ourselves before we can lead others. Like an inventor, we must have both the vision of a new product and the ability to create it. Like a coach, we have to identify talents in people around us and work with them to create outstanding results for the team.

Leadership is about creating a better, stronger you: if I help you develop the qualities of a leader, you can apply these new skills to any task – selling, engineering, communicating – and accomplish it more effectively. If your self-esteem is better, you will do whatever you do better. If you carry an attitude of excellence, your goal will be to do your best.

Leadership is about people: Leadership is about being leader of you. Find your own vision, put it into action and you will automatically become the leader of the others.

Leadership is about internal motivation: Leaders can control feelings, emotion, courage, that motivates him. If the outside worlds are bringing you down, internal motivation will bring you up.

Leadership is about change: The world we live in brings thousands of challenges. Financial, Emotional, Physical. Many bring frustration. You can go through then kicking and cursing, wishing things would stay the same. Holding on to what you have. Or you can make a decision to change.

Leadership is about having confidence: To consciously choose to change, you need to believe that things can get better. Work on building your confidence.

Leadership is about growth: There is leadership in every invention or discovery ever made. If you are growing, you are a leader.

Leadership is about having energy: Most leaders have a great deal of energy. Your energy level comes from your thoughts and feelings. If you expect something good to happen or believe in a positive future, you will have a higher energy level. Remember that energy is contagious.

Leadership is about creating results-with integrity: Vision is important. But it’s not enough. True leadership is the ability to turn results: Getting out of debt. Going to the trip you have always wanted. Saying what to do and doing it. Fulfillment comes from having both your need and your values satisfied; one without the other will leave you feeling incomplete.

Leadership is about creating positive experience: We want to feel good about ourselves. We want to feel in control, powerful, and excited about what lies ahead.
Leadership is about reducing fear and increasing hope: In time of change, people are uncertain about their future. With this comes fear –of losing their jobs, economic security, status, friendships, and other aspect of life they have come to value and depend upon. This fear saps motivation, reduce trust, and increases resistance. If you need to lead people through significant change, even time of leadership, find a way to increase their hope. Inspire and demonstrate that you care about them. Improve the tangible bottom line and people’s sense of confidence.
